Chicago Fire Celebrates 200 Episodes
This week’s episode of Chicago Fire, appropriately titled “Two Hundred,” marks a milestone for the show, which premiered in 2012 and launched the One Chicago brand.
After nearly a decade on the air, Chicago Fire showrunner Derek Haas knows the show’s audience. While speaking about the milestone 200th episode, he explained “Our fifth episode is going to be our 200th. Why don’t we make that a really, really special, big, show-altering episode?”
Viewers can expect some big moments in “Two Hundred.” “Usually, we break out everything toward the winter finale,” continued Haas. “But this year, we said, ‘let’s break everything toward the 200th.’ A lot of storylines that have started are going to either get resolved or have some sort of climax in this episode.”
For example, Captain Matthew Casey (Jesse Spencer) contemplates relocating across the country to caretake for the sons of his late best friend Andrew Darden (Corey Sorenson). However, the firehouse’s leader since day one must weigh his decision alongside girlfriend Sylvie Brett (Kara Killmer).
Chicago Fire’s cast and crew celebrated the occasion while shooting the episode in September with a fire-themed cake featuring a hose and helmet reading “200 episodes.”
The 200th episode of Chicago Fire airs Wednesday, October 20th at 9/8c on NBC.
