The 5 Best Ice-T Moments On Law & Order: SVU

Since 2000, Ice-T has played the role of beloved Sergeant (formerly Detective) Odafin Tutuola on Law & Order: Special Victims Unit. Not only is he second in command of the Manhattan Special Victims Unit and a powerful presence in the interrogation room, Fin is the second-longest serving character on the show, and has delivered some of the most memorable lines of the series. Below, we’re looking back at 5 of the very best Ice-T moments on SVU.

S2E1 “Wrong Is Right”

This episode is the first time we meet Fin, and we’ve loved him ever since! In the second season premiere, he arrives at the precinct just as Detective Jeffries (Michelle Hurd) was leaving — an awkward moment that the new hire takes in stride. Watch the episode here.

S6E10 “Haunted”

This gripping episode is arguably one of Ice-T’s best performances on the show. When Fin is lauded in the paper for his heroism, he catches the eye of a woman who knew him when he was undercover in Narcotics. Though he’s supposed to be on leave, Fin recruits Detective Sandoval to help in his search for the woman’s missing daughter. Watch the episode here.

S10E1 “Trials”

Not one to shy away from confrontation, Fin is a formidable opponent in the interrogation room. In this memorable episode, he puts serious pressure on a suspect, played by Modern Family’s Julie Bowen. Watch the episode here.

S12E4 “Merchandise”

In this episode, Fin teams up with Detective Cruz (Pia Glenn) to get information about a missing boy, lining up several known pimps and telling them what’s up. Dedicated to his mission, Fin talks tough, asserts his power, and leaves a big impression on the men — and on the audience. Watch the episode here.

S24E14 “Dutch Tears”

One of the things we love most about Fin is how much he truly believes in the work that SVU does, and that’s as apparent as ever in this episode, in which he advocates for a recently released convict who has been sexually assaulted by inmates with the help of a corrupt prison guard. His mindset is summed up in a line he delivers in the episode: “You know what they say — if you can’t find a good person, be one.” Watch the episode here.
