One Chicago Returns With Exciting Premiere Episodes
Chicago Med, Chicago Fire, and Chicago P.D. made their much anticipated returns to NBC last week, kicking off their 9th, 12th and 11th seasons respectively. Fans everywhere tuned in after an 8-month hiatus, resulting in One Chicago Wednesday ranking as the top three shows of the night, with Chicago Fire bringing in the most total viewers. We’ve rounded up the biggest moments from each show’s premiere episode, as well as what we’re excited to see from each show this season.
Chicago Med
Season 9 Episode 1 recap: When the ED is flooded with patients from a crash, the entire team is pulled in to help. Dr. Charles can’t shake the feeling that he knows the new attending, Dr. Ripley, while Archer has second thoughts on the eve of his kidney transplant.
What we’re excited for this season: new doctor Mitch Ripley (played by Luke Mitchell) has joined the team at Gaffney, and we can’t wait to find out how he’s connected to Dr. Charles and see how things get shaken up as a result.
Chicago Fire
Season 12 Episode 1 recap: Firehouse 51 is forced to share space with Firehouse 17, and tensions arise. Kidd and Herrmann fight over Ritter, meanwhile an arson case tests Kidd and Severide’s relationship. Brett reveals she accepted Casey’s proposal, and plans to relocate with him.
What we’re excited for this season: Severide is back, but is he back for good? Will Mouch recover from the injuries he sustained at the end of last season? Will we get more wedding details from Brett before she leaves Chicago to be with Casey in Oregon? How will 51 adjust to all these changes?
Chicago P.D.
Season 11 Episode 1 recap: Tasked with shadowing a crisis prevention team, Upton finds her approach to policing at odds with the team’s mental health clinician. Meanwhile, Sgt. Voight stands by Upton as she continues to struggle in her personal life.
What we’re excited for this season: emotions are running high this season already — we were relieved to see Ruzek survived last season’s shooting, and now we want to see more of his and Burgess’ relationship. We’re also curious to see how Upton continues to deal with life without Halstead.
Watch One Chicago Wednesdays starting at 8/7c on NBC and stream episodes the next day on Peacock.
