CIA So Far: The Mid-Season Recap

Two agents, one joint task force, and zero agreement on how to run an op. CIA hit the ground running in February, and the show wasted no time making itself at home on Monday nights. The latest procedural from Wolf Entertainment and CBS has already been renewed for a second season — so if you’ve missed a few episodes, consider this your classified briefing.

The first five episodes of CIA Season 1 have sent FBI Special Agent Bill Goodman (Nick Gehlfuss) and CIA case officer Colin Glass (Tom Ellis) across the globe and deep into New York’s underbelly — from chasing a stolen top-secret weapon that forced the unlikely partners together for the first time, to unraveling a smuggling operation with a would-be assassin at its center, to a tense Hong Kong extraction that presented some extra challenges. Back stateside, the duo dismantled an international baby smuggling ring before facing down Iranian sleeper agents in an explosive hostage standoff.

Woven through the episodic cases is a growing conspiracy: someone inside the task force’s orbit may be feeding intelligence to a hostile actor. Suspicion has shifted multiple times, and as of Episode 5, Colin’s girlfriend Sarah has moved into the crosshairs. The question remains: who is the leak, and how high does it go?

Five episodes remain in the first season, and with the mole hunt heating up, Sarah’s loyalties in question, and Colin and Bill’s partnership deepening into something genuinely formidable, the back half promises to deliver as well as the first. And with a confirmed second season, the action isn’t stopping anytime soon.

Watch CIA on Mondays at 10/9c on CBS, and stream the following day on Paramount+.
