Bury My Heart at Wounded Knee

2007 Drama

Based on the book of the same name by Dee Brown, Emmy Award winning “Bury My Heart at Wounded Knee” follows four characters navigating the realities facing Native Americans in the 1860s and 70s: Charles Eastman (Adam Beach), a young, mixed-race Sioux doctor; Sitting Bull (August Schellenberg), the Sioux chief who refuses to submit to unethical policies that will diminish the rights and legacy of his people; U.S. Senator Henry L. Dawes (Aidan Quinn); and Red Cloud (Gordon Tootoosis), a pacifist at odds with Sitting Bull.

As Charles and his wife-to-be, Elaine Goodale (Anna Paquin), work to improve life for Indians on the reservation, the trust of political moves aimed at stealing Native American land and erasing their traditions lead viewers on an emotional journey that illuminates an unforgettable side of history.

“Bury My Heart at Wounded Knee” is a Wolf Films production. Written by Daniel Giat, directed by Yves Simoneau, and executive produced by Dick Wolf and Tom Thayer.
